This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension who do not have sufficient blood pressure control with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for adults is one tablet containing 80 mg of valsartan and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide taken once daily, with or without food, using a small amount of water. Valsartan 160 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg applies when prescribed for blood pressure reduction. No dosage adjustment is needed for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance above 30 mL/min).

Precautions

This medicine can cause serious damage to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed.
