This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil. How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered as one tablet once daily with water, regardless of meals. Taking it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning) is recommended. The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20 mg: for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine 5 mg or olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg. - 10/20 mg: for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be stopped immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It should not be taken by individuals with allergies to the active ingredients, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, severe liver impairment, severe aortic stenosis, bile duct obstruction, patients undergoing dialysis, those in shock, or certain diabetes patients. Patients who are deficient in fluid or salt, those with severe vascular dilation, severe coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, renal impairment, or hepatic impairment should be given this medication with special caution and should be closely monitored while taking it. This medication may cause various side effects such as dizziness, headache, hypotension, edema, gastrointestinal disturbances, and skin rash; therefore, if any abnormal symptoms occur, immediate consultation with medical staff is recommended. It is generally advised not to use this medication during pregnancy, and patients planning a pregnancy are recommended to be switched to other safe antihypertensive agents. Breastfeeding parents should consider that this medication may pass into breast milk, posing a risk of adverse reactions in infants, so it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding or the medication. Safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so use is not recommended. The elderly may be more sensitive to the medication due to decreased kidney and liver function, so they should start with a lower dose and be administered carefully. In case of overdose, symptoms of severe hypotension and vascular dilation may occur, requiring immediate medical treatment. This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container, away from moisture, heat, and light, and out of reach of children; do not transfer it to another container.
