Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension and stage 2 hypertension
This medication is indicated for patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with amlodipine or losartan monotherapy alone. It is also used for initial treatment in patients with stage 2 hypertension who require combination therapy to reach the target blood pressure. In other words, this drug helps effectively manage hypertension and improve blood pressure.
The recommended dosage for this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Typically, this drug is administered as 5/50 mg once daily, and if blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 2 weeks of administration, the dosage may be increased to 10/50 mg once daily.
The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so its administration is not recommended.
This medication can pose serious risks to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters. It should be stopped immediately if pregnancy is confirmed, and women who may become pregnant should avoid using this drug. Hypotension may occur upon initial administration in patients with reduced blood volume, so it should be used cautiously if such symptoms are present. It should not be administered to patients allergic to the active ingredients or related components, those with severe liver impairment, patients with severely narrowed heart valves, or patients in a state of shock. Patients with reduced blood volume, severe renal impairment, or hyperkalemia should use this drug cautiously and require regular monitoring according to a doctor's instructions. Neurological adverse reactions such as dizziness, headache, drowsiness, as well as gastrointestinal disturbances like indigestion, nausea, skin rashes, etc., may occur. If symptoms of excessively low blood pressure or severe allergic reactions manifest, immediate medical attention should be sought. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating dangerous machinery while taking this drug, and if taken with other antihypertensive medications, there may be a risk of too low blood pressure. It is advisable to avoid taking it with grapefruit juice, as it may enhance the drug's effects. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication, and especially nursing mothers should avoid usage as the drug may be passed into breast milk. This drug is not recommended for children under 18 years of age and seniors over 75 years, so alternative treatment options should be consulted. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and cardiac issues may occur, necessitating immediate medical treatment; this drug is not removed by hemodialysis. Store the medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to other containers for safety.
