This medication is used to relieve pain and muscle spasms caused by musculoskeletal disorders. It is effective for conditions such as adhesive capsulitis, periarthritis of the shoulder, and lower back pain. It also helps improve muscle rigidity caused by neurological disorders. It is effective in treating spastic paralysis due to various neurological diseases such as cerebrovascular disorders, spinal cord injuries, and cerebral palsy. This drug alleviates both pain and muscle rigidity, thus improving patients' mobility. Therefore, it is used to treat symptoms accompanying musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.

How to take

Adult dose

Eperisone hydrochloride: 50mg orally after meals, three times a day. Adjust the dosage appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, it should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or those with severe muscle weakness. Additionally, this medication contains lactose and should not be used in patients with genetic issues that impair lactose digestion. Some patients must exercise caution when using this medication. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to drugs or liver dysfunction should be careful when taking this medication. Also, individuals allergic to the color additive Yellow No. 4 should be cautious. During the use of this medication, various side effects may occur, so careful monitoring is necessary. Rarely, severe shock reactions may occur; if symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and medical attention sought. Regular tests are advisable as there may be abnormalities in liver or kidney function. Various symptoms, including blood abnormalities, skin rashes, itching, mental and neurological problems, gastrointestinal discomfort, urinary issues, and general weakness, may manifest. Particularly, symptoms such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a severe skin condition, may appear, so if fever, skin rashes, blisters, eye redness, or stomatitis occurs, the medication should be stopped immediately, and a doctor's consultation is required. This medication may cause drowsiness or lethargy, so it is advisable to avoid dangerous activities such as driving or operating machinery. Moreover, taking this drug alongside similar medications or specific muscle relaxants may increase side effects; thus, consultation with a physician is necessary. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if absolutely necessary, as its safety has not been established, while nursing mothers should avoid taking it if possible and consider stopping breastfeeding if necessary. Due to insufficient confirmation of this medication's safety in children, caution is needed for its use, and for the elderly, dosage adjustment may be necessary due to potential decline in bodily functions.
