Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with viral keratitis, fungal eye diseases, mycobacterial infections, or chronic blepharitis. Additionally, those allergic to this medication should avoid administration. It is generally not used in patients with corneal injuries or ulcers, those with tuberculous or purulent eye diseases, glaucoma patients, and children under 2 years of age unless absolutely necessary, in which case it must be used very cautiously. Long-term use may increase intraocular pressure and lead to glaucoma; regular eye pressure checks are necessary. This medication can cause eye infections such as herpes keratitis or fungal infections, so immediate treatment is required if such symptoms occur. Caution is required as severe problems can occur in cases of corneal injury or trauma. Long-term use increases the risk of cataracts and lowers immune response, raising the risk of other eye infections. Using this medication during acute purulent eye infections may obscure or worsen infection symptoms. If inflammation or pain in the eye lasts more than 48 hours or worsens, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. If wearing contact lenses, they should be removed before using this medication and can only be reinserted at least 30 minutes after use. Vision may temporarily blur after instillation, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided until vision clears. Serious complications may arise if infection occurs with chickenpox or measles while using this medication; hence, check medical history and vaccination status before use. Caution is needed for children and patients taking certain medications, as they may be more susceptible to systemic side effects. Particularly, when used with CYP3A4 inhibitor medications, the risk of systemic side effects may increase, so co-administration should be done under careful medical supervision. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should avoid long-term use, and nursing mothers should refrain from using it or stop breastfeeding if it must be used. Safety in children and adolescents has not been adequately established, so caution is required. Elderly patients should use this medication with extra caution due to weakened bodily functions. This medication is for direct ocular use only, and care should be taken to avoid contact of the container tip with the eye. Shake well before use and do not share with others to avoid contamination. Store out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool place. Furthermore, for quality maintenance, do not transfer to another container.
