This medication is used for the treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer. It is also effective for alleviating the symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease and for long-term maintenance therapy. In patients with gastrointestinal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, it is administered in combination with antibiotics. Additionally, it is utilized in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This drug is used to improve and treat symptoms associated with gastric and esophageal conditions.

How to take

Adult dose

For gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers: Administer 10 mg orally once a day. Depending on symptoms, it may be increased to 20 mg once daily, with treatment duration of up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients with certain allergic reactions. For example, it should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to this drug or its components, or to benzimidazole derivatives. Moreover, when used in combination with amoxicillin or clarithromycin for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori, it can be risky for those allergic to these antibiotics to take this medication. Pregnant or nursing women should also avoid this drug, as it may affect the fetus or newborn. Patients with impaired liver function or elderly individuals should use this medication with caution, and those with a history of drug hypersensitivity may also require special attention. If rash, itching, or other allergic symptoms occur while taking this medication, it should be discontinued immediately. Routine blood tests are recommended as this medication may cause changes in red or white blood cell counts. Regular liver function tests should also be conducted, and immediate consultation with a doctor should occur if symptoms of hepatitis or jaundice arise. Beware of possible side effects related to the heart or blood pressure, indigestion, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and other associated symptoms. Neurological symptoms can include headache, dizziness, and insomnia; in severe cases, confusion or seizures may occur, so reporting any unusual symptoms is necessary. Respiratory problems or skin rashes, hair loss have also been reported, so consult with healthcare professionals if these symptoms manifest. Long-term use may increase the risk of fractures related to osteoporosis, so caution is advised during prolonged use.
