How to take

Adult dose

As cilostazol, the usual adult dose is 200 mg orally once a day. This medication should be taken on an empty stomach, avoiding meals.

Precautions

This medication is used to improve blood circulation and prevent platelets from clumping together in blood vessels. When taking this medication, there may be an increase in heart rate, which can cause symptoms of angina, so if there are symptoms like chest pain, it is essential to consult a doctor. Patients at high risk of bleeding or those who have recently had a hemorrhagic stroke or surgery, or individuals with bleeding disorders such as hemophilia should not take this medication. Patients with congestive heart failure, those who have had allergic reactions to this medication, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should also avoid taking it. Patients on anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs, thrombolytics, menstruating women, patients with coronary artery stenosis, severely impaired kidney or liver function, and diabetes should use this medication with caution. This medication may cause side effects such as headaches, diarrhea, palpitations, joint pain, chest discomfort, and serious complications like severe bleeding, blood abnormalities, interstitial pneumonia, and heart issues; they must report any unusual symptoms to their healthcare provider immediately. During treatment, blood pressure and heart status should be monitored periodically, and any initial symptoms of bleeding or blood disorders should be reported immediately. Caution is needed as dizziness may occur before driving or operating machinery. Taking this medication with food may increase blood concentration and the risk of side effects, so it is better to take it on an empty stomach, especially after a high-fat meal. Due to potential drug interactions, especially with anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs, and medications affecting CYP3A4 or CYP2C19 enzymes, it is important to inform the doctor or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not take this medication, and nursing mothers should stop breastfeeding. Safety in children, neonates, or low-birth-weight infants has not been established, so caution is needed in their use. Elderly patients may have reduced physiological functions, so special care is required in dosage adjustments. In case of overdose, symptoms like severe headaches, diarrhea, low blood pressure, and rapid heartbeat may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. While taking this medication, regular check-ups as instructed by the doctor or pharmacist are necessary, and any unusual symptoms should be consulted immediately.
