Improvement of chronic arterial occlusive disease (ulcers, pain) and prevention of stroke recurrence.
This medication helps improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and coldness caused by vascular diseases like chronic arterial occlusive disease. It is also effective in preventing recurrence after stroke, except for heart-related embolic strokes. It improves blood circulation and is used for symptom relief and prevention of recurrence.
For cilostazol, the usual adult dosage is to take 200 mg once daily by mouth. This medication should be taken on an empty stomach, avoiding meals.
This medication may cause increased heart rate, leading to symptoms of angina; hence, careful observation for symptoms such as chest pain is required. It should not be used in patients with a risk of bleeding or those who have recently experienced hemorrhagic disorders, nor in patients with congestive heart failure or a history of allergic reactions to this medication. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women. Patients taking anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs, or thrombolytics should use it cautiously due to increased risk of bleeding. Women on their menstrual period, patients with coronary artery stenosis, and those with severely impaired kidney or liver function should also exercise caution. Diabetic patients may be more susceptible to bleeding side effects, so caution is advised. This medication may cause a variety of adverse reactions; common symptoms include headache, diarrhea, palpitations, joint pain, and chest discomfort. Serious adverse reactions reported include bleeding, blood cell reduction, interstitial pneumonia, and cardiac problems, and immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary if unusual symptoms occur. Dizziness may occur during use, requiring caution in driving or operating machinery. Taking it with food may increase drug concentration and side effects, so it is advisable to take it on an empty stomach, especially avoiding high-fat meals.
