This medication is used to improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and coldness caused by chronic arterial occlusive disease. It also helps to prevent recurrence after cerebral infarction, improving blood flow and alleviating symptoms to maintain health. Therefore, it is effective for chronic arterial disease and preventing recurrence of cerebral infarction.
As cilostazol, the usual adult dosage is 200 mg taken orally once daily. This medication should be taken on an empty stomach, avoiding food.
This medication may increase heart rate, which can lead to symptoms of angina such as chest pain, thus it is important to carefully monitor for signs of angina. Patients at risk of bleeding or who have recently experienced a hemorrhagic stroke or undergone surgery should not use this medication. Patients with congestive heart failure, those who have had allergic reactions to this medication, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should not take this medication. Patients currently taking medications that increase the risk of bleeding, such as anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs, should use this medication cautiously, and women during menstruation should also be aware of the increased risk of bleeding. Patients with heart disease or severely impaired kidney and liver functions, as well as diabetes patients, should take this medication with caution. While taking this medication, side effects such as headaches, diarrhea, palpitations, joint pain, and chest discomfort may occur, and if severe bleeding, cardiac issues, or liver dysfunction arise, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. This medication can cause dizziness, so caution is needed while driving or operating machinery. Taking the medication with food may increase drug concentration and side effects, so it is advisable to take it on an empty stomach and space it from meals by about 3 hours. This medication is metabolized in the liver, so when used with other drugs that affect liver metabolism, be cautious of changes in drug concentration and avoid taking it with grapefruit juice. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication, and especially women who may become pregnant should consult a doctor before use. The safety for children and neonates has not been established, so caution is required in their use, and elderly patients may need dosage adjustments due to declining bodily functions. In case of overdose, symptoms such as headaches, diarrhea, low blood pressure, and rapid heartbeat may occur, requiring immediate medical attention.
Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe allergic reactions, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, severe skin adverse reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, cough and fever with respiratory issues, breathing problems, yellowing of the skin or eyes, severe fatigue, liver abnormalities (jaundice), sudden and very severe reactions.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture and at a temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Doing so helps maintain the drug's efficacy and prevents deterioration.
