Treatment of hypertension and kidney disease (in patients with type 2 diabetes)
This drug is used to treat hypertension. It also helps to prevent and treat kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension. In other words, it effectively controls blood pressure to prevent kidney damage and contributes to maintaining health.
It is recommended that this drug be taken orally at 50 mg once daily at the same time each day, irrespective of meals. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, it may be divided into two doses daily or increased to a maximum of 100 mg once daily if necessary. In patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension, the usual dosage is 50 mg once daily, which may be increased to 100 mg once daily depending on blood pressure.
For children and adolescents aged 6 years and older weighing 20 kg to less than 50 kg, the recommended dosage is 25 mg once daily, with a maximum of 50 mg once daily depending on blood pressure response. For those weighing 50 kg or more, the usual dosage is 50 mg once daily, which can also be increased based on blood pressure response.
This drug may affect fetal kidney development during pregnancy, and should not be taken in the second and third trimesters. It should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed, as caution is needed to prevent serious harm to the fetus and newborn. This drug should not be administered to certain patients. For instance, individuals who are allergic to this drug or its components, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, patients with severe liver dysfunction, patients with hereditary angioedema, and patients with primary hyperaldosteronism, among others. Patients with lactose intolerance should also avoid this drug. Elderly patients or patients with high serum potassium, weakened liver function, valvular heart disease, or cerebrovascular disease should use this drug cautiously, as there may be risks of significantly low blood pressure. This drug may cause various side effects, including muscle cramps, dizziness, back pain, and upper respiratory infections. Rarely, serious side effects such as angioedema, hepatitis, myalgia, hyperkalemia, and hypotension have been reported, so patients should consult a healthcare professional immediately if unusual symptoms occur. Patients with liver dysfunction may have elevated drug concentrations in the blood, necessitating dosage adjustments. Patients with impaired kidney function also require careful administration and should have serum potassium levels monitored regularly. This drug may interact with other medications, so it is essential to consult a healthcare provider, especially if taking potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), lithium, etc. Consumption of grapefruit juice should be avoided, as it may reduce the efficacy of this drug. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid taking this drug, and if breastfeeding, it is recommended to discontinue nursing. This drug is not to be administered to children under 6 years of age or to children and adolescents with severe impairment in kidney function. During treatment, blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels should be monitored regularly. If symptoms of hypotension or renal failure occur, healthcare personnel should be notified immediately. This drug lowers blood pressure; therefore, caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery due to possible dizziness or drowsiness. In the event of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension and tachycardia may occur, requiring prompt emergency care. This drug is not removed by dialysis. Finally, this drug should be stored out of reach of children in a safe place, and it is advisable not to transfer it to other containers.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash accompanied by high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, breathlessness or difficulty in breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), profound fatigue, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, urine changes.

This drug may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it should be stored in a tightly sealed container. It is best to maintain storage temperatures between 1 degree Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. This helps to preserve the drug's effectiveness for a long time.
