Treatment of ocular infections such as blepharitis and conjunctivitis
This medication is used in the treatment of eye diseases such as blepharitis, dacryocystitis, stye, conjunctivitis, keratitis, and corneal ulcers, as it is effective against various strains of bacteria. It has antibacterial action against various bacteria including staphylococci, streptococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli, inhibiting infections and improving symptoms. It particularly helps to effectively treat bacterial infections that occur around the eyes and in the ocular area, aiding patients in quickly alleviating eye inflammation and discomfort. Therefore, this medication is widely used for the treatment of the aforementioned ocular diseases.
For mild to moderate infections, instill 1-2 drops into the infected area every 4 hours. For severe infections, instill 2 drops every hour until symptoms improve, then gradually reduce the dosage. Adjust appropriately according to age and symptoms.
This medication is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat eye infections. Patients who have had allergic reactions to aminoglycoside antibiotics or bacitracin should not use this medication. Symptoms such as eyelid itching, swelling, redness, conjunctivitis, or temporary heat in the eyes may occur, and if these symptoms appear, use should be discontinued immediately. Occasionally, irritation or pain in the eye may occur, and if discomfort persists, consult with a healthcare professional. When using this medication, it is necessary to check the susceptibility of the infecting bacteria to prevent antibiotic resistance and use it for only the minimum required duration. To prevent severe allergic reactions like shock, it is advisable to perform a thorough medical history and skin reaction tests beforehand. Prolonged or repeated use may lead to excessive growth of resistant bacteria; if such symptoms occur, use of the medication should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be obtained. Components of this medication should not be used in conjunction with specific antibiotic classes, so caution is advised when co-administering with other drugs. If receiving systemic aminoglycoside medication, blood levels should be checked periodically. During treatment, it is recommended to avoid wearing contact lenses to prevent the spread of infection. Vision may be temporarily blurred after instillation, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided until vision returns to normal. When using this medication along with anticoagulants (blood-thinning drugs), it is necessary to frequently check blood coagulation status and adjust the anticoagulant dosage if necessary. During pregnancy, this medication should only be used when absolutely necessary, and during breastfeeding, use should be discontinued or discussed with a healthcare professional as it may harm the baby. In the event of overdose, symptoms such as keratitis, redness of the eye, increased tear production, and eyelid itching may appear, and blood dialysis may be required to regulate blood levels. This medication should not be injected directly into the eye. Finally, it is important to confirm the resistance of infecting bacteria to this medication before treatment, as some bacteria may show resistance.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent exposure to air and moisture. It is important to maintain a storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
