How to take

Adult dose

As Donepezil Hydrochloride, administer 5 mg once daily before bedtime. If unusual dreams, nightmares, or sleep disturbances occur, morning administration should be considered. Precautions

This medicine contains the ingredient Donepezil Hydrochloride and is used for the treatment of Alzheimer's type dementia symptoms. Firstly, this medicine should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients allergic to this medicine or to Donepezil Hydrochloride, or piperidine derivatives, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should not take this medicine. Additionally, patients with heart disease or those with a history of syncope, cardiac conduction disturbances should be cautious as this medicine may stimulate the vagus nerve, leading to bradycardia or arrhythmias. Patients with a history of peptic ulcers or those taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should exercise caution as increased gastric acid secretion may worsen ulcers. Patients with a history of asthma or obstructive pulmonary disease should also be cautious as increased bronchial contraction and mucus secretion may exacerbate symptoms. Patients with extrapyramidal disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, may also experience worsening of symptoms, thus requiring careful attention. This medicine can cause several side effects, with serious cases reporting syncope, bradycardia, heart block, myocardial infarction, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver dysfunction, cerebrovascular problems, movement disorders, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, rhabdomyolysis, dyspnea, acute pancreatitis, acute renal failure, and sudden death. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dizziness, insomnia, hallucinations, anxiety, drowsiness, muscle pain, rashes, and most are mild or transient. This medicine is not approved for use in other types of dementia or memory disorders aside from Alzheimer's type dementia, and should be used under the diagnosis and supervision of a professional. The therapeutic effect should be regularly evaluated and cessation should be considered if ineffective. Patients with heart disease or a history of QT interval prolongation may have an increased risk of arrhythmia while taking this medicine and may require an electrocardiogram. Use caution while driving or operating machinery, especially during the initial stages of treatment or when changing dosages. Pregnant or nursing women are advised against using this medicine, and if absolutely necessary, should consult a professional. This medicine may interact with various drugs, so if taking other medications, be sure to inform the doctor or pharmacist and exercise caution. In case of overdose, symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, bradycardia, hypotension, respiratory depression, and seizures, and immediate medical attention should be sought. Finally, this medicine should be stored out of reach of children and transferring to other containers is not advisable as it may affect quality.
