It is used for the treatment of essential hypertension and heart failure. For heart failure patients with impaired left ventricular contractility, it is especially applied when ACE inhibitors need to be added or are not well tolerated. This drug aids in improving hypertension and cardiac function.

How to take

Adult dose

Essential Hypertension Adults: The recommended initial and maintenance dose is 8 to 16 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil administered orally once daily. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 4 weeks on a dose of 16 mg once daily, it may be increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. Heart Failure Adults: The initial dose is recommended to be 4 mg once daily. The dose may be doubled, with at least a 2-week interval between increases.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergic reactions to this drug, severe liver impairment, or certain genetic disorders should not take this medication. Caution is required when using this drug in elderly patients, those with impaired kidney function, and those with low blood pressure, and it is especially important to regularly monitor serum potassium levels and kidney function. Some patients may experience side effects such as dizziness, back pain, and respiratory infections, and in severe cases, hypotension or kidney function impairment may occur. The blood pressure-lowering effect may be increased when this drug is used in conjunction with other antihypertensive agents. Particularly, caution should be taken when used with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, as this may lead to dangerously high potassium levels in the blood. Breastfeeding women are advised to avoid this drug, and if it must be taken, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Caution is also advised when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness may occur. In case of overdose, symptoms such as symptomatic hypotension, dizziness, and rapid heartbeat may appear, and immediate medical treatment should be sought. The safety and efficacy of this drug in children and adolescents have not been established; therefore, it is recommended not to use it in individuals under 18 years of age.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), breathing difficulty, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attacks, respiratory distress accompanying cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output

Mild side effects

Dizziness, back pain, respiratory infection (upper respiratory infection, pharyngitis, rhinitis), fatigue, peripheral edema, chest pain, headache, bronchitis, cough, sinusitis, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, arthralgia, proteinuria, asthenia, fever, paresthesia, dyspepsia, gastroenteritis, tachycardia, palpitations, increased creatine kinase (CK), hyperglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperuricemia, myalgia, epistaxis, anxiety, depression, drowsiness, rash, increased sweating,
