Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with certain infectious diseases such as viral keratitis. Specifically, it should not be administered in cases of viral infections like superficial herpes simplex keratitis, smallpox, and varicella. Additionally, it may be risky for patients with fungal infections or tuberculosis-related mycobacterial infections in the eyes. It should not be used if purulent infections are not treated. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication should avoid it. Administration is prohibited for patients with corneal wounds or ulcers due to the risk of corneal perforation. Patients with glaucoma and children should be particularly cautious when using this medication. In children, prolonged use of high doses may suppress adrenal function, so it should be used carefully. This medication may increase intraocular pressure, and side effects such as cataracts or eye damage may occur. Symptoms like foreign body sensation in the eye, conjunctival redness, infections, pain, blurred vision, etc., may arise, and if unusual symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary. Using this medication for reddened eyes without a doctor's diagnosis may risk loss of vision, so it must be used following the guidance of a specialist. When used for a long period, regular check-ups for intraocular pressure and eye condition are necessary, especially for children or patients who cannot cooperate. Visual disturbances may occur due to corticosteroid medications, so any blurriness or abnormal symptoms should be reported to healthcare providers immediately. Patients with a history of herpes simplex should be monitored closely to prevent the worsening of corneal diseases. This medication may conceal or worsen acute purulent eye infections, so if an infection is suspected, it should be discontinued and consulting a physician is essential. It is ineffective for mustard gas keratitis or Sjögren's syndrome, thus other treatment methods should be sought. If wearing contact lenses, remove them before applying the drops, and put them back in at least 15 minutes after the drops are administered. If inflammation or pain lasts or worsens for more than 48 hours, immediate discontinuation and consultation with medical staff are necessary. Temporary blurring of vision may occur during application, so driving or operating dangerous machinery should not be done until vision is clear after application. If the patient contracts varicella or measles while using this medication, severe complications may occur, so medical history and vaccination status should be confirmed before use. If there is a risk of infection, immediate examination and appropriate treatment are required. Prolonged use may lead to elevated intraocular pressure resulting in glaucoma, hence regular eye pressure checks are essential. Immediate treatment is required in cases of herpes keratitis or fungal infections, and there is a perforation risk when applied to corneal ulcers or traumatized areas. This medication may delay wound healing, and caution is needed as prolonged use may suppress pituitary and adrenal function. If any irritation or discomfort occurs during use, treatment should be stopped immediately, and long-term use should be avoided. There may be interactions with other medications, especially when used with drugs like atropine, as caution is needed regarding increased intraocular pressure. When used in conjunction with CYP3A inhibitors, there could be an increased risk of systemic side effects, hence consultation with medical staff is necessary. The safety of this medication in pregnant and breastfeeding women has not been established, so it should only be used cautiously when the benefits outweigh the risks and long-term use should be avoided. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been clearly established, hence caution is warranted, and elderly patients require careful monitoring due to declining bodily functions. In case of overdose, there may be no urgent issues, but if taken excessively, drinking water to dilute is helpful. This medication is for ocular use only, and care should be taken to prevent contamination by avoiding contact of the container opening with the eye or other surfaces. Co-use should be avoided to reduce the risk of infection.
