Precautions

This medication is used for treating type 2 diabetes and requires insulin to lower blood sugar levels. It may worsen or newly induce heart failure, thus it should not be used in patients with heart failure, and symptoms of heart failure such as sudden weight gain, shortness of breath, and edema should be closely monitored during treatment. Fluid retention may occur, which can lead to swelling, so if there is severe swelling or signs of heart failure, consult a doctor immediately. This medication should not be administered to patients with bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer, and if symptoms such as hematuria or urinary difficulties develop during treatment, inform a physician immediately. Patients with impaired liver function or severe renal impairment should generally avoid this medication, and if symptoms of liver dysfunction appear, treatment should be stopped, and medical consultation is advised. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when used with other blood glucose-lowering agents, especially insulin or sulfonylureas, so symptoms of hypoglycemia should be monitored, and doses of other medications may need adjustment. In premenopausal women, this medication may promote ovulation, increasing the risk of pregnancy, so appropriate contraception should be employed. Use with caution in elderly patients or those with reduced kidney function, and regular blood glucose and liver function tests are essential. During treatment, weight gain and edema may occur, so monitor weight changes closely, and consult a doctor if any abnormalities are observed. No specific symptoms may present in case of overdose; however, appropriate treatment and observation based on clinical symptoms are necessary. This medication is not recommended for use in children, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Lastly, this medication must be taken according to a physician's prescription and instructions, and any uncomfortable symptoms or adverse reactions experienced during use should be reported to medical staff immediately.
