View approved original text

Chronic hepatitis refers to a condition where inflammation in the liver persists, causing continuous elevation of ALT levels. This medication helps improve liver function damaged by chronic hepatitis and reduces inflammation. It is used to restore liver health, alleviate symptoms, and slow the progression of the disease.

How to take

Adult dose

As Biphenyl Dimethyl Dicarboxylate, take 25 to 50 mg orally three times a day. Adjust dosage as appropriate based on symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who have allergic reactions to this medication or its ingredients. This medication contains lactose, so individuals who are genetically unable to break down lactose, such as those with galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption, should not take it. Patients with liver diseases such as chronic active hepatitis or cirrhosis should exercise caution when using this medication. Taking this medication may cause side effects such as dry mouth, nausea, and skin rash, which can improve with the use of antihistamines. Jaundice symptoms may temporarily appear, but stopping the medication or using jaundice treatment can resolve the symptoms. Rarely, symptoms such as nausea or abdominal bloating may occur, but most improve quickly. Taking this medication along with a drug called Inosine may improve ALT levels indicating liver function. Women who are pregnant, of childbearing age, or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Older patients may have reduced bodily function, so the dosage of the medication should be reduced or used with caution. During treatment, ALT levels rarely rise again; however, they may increase if the medication is stopped and will improve again when this medication is resumed. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and storing it in a different container from the original may lead to reduced quality or risk of misuse, so it must be kept in its original container with the lid tightly closed.
