Prevention of myocardial infarction and stroke due to essential hypertension and decreased risk of cardiovascular disease
This medication helps control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension and is used to reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it effectively reduces the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and mortality due to cardiovascular diseases in high-risk patients over 55 years old who cannot use ACE inhibitors. With these characteristics, it plays an important role in improving cardiovascular health and preventing related complications.
Essential Hypertension: Administer telmisartan once daily at 40 mg orally with water, regardless of meals. Depending on the patient, 20 mg once daily may also be effective. If necessary, the dose may be increased up to 80 mg once daily, and increases in dosage will show blood pressure-lowering effects after 4 to 8 weeks following the start of treatment. Reduction of Cardiovascular Disease Risk: Administer 80 mg once daily orally with water.
