How to take

If there is no previous experience with metformin treatment: The initial dose is 2.5/500 mg taken twice daily, one tablet per dose, and it may be increased to 2.5/1000 mg, one tablet taken twice daily.

Precautions

This medication can cause a rare but serious side effect called lactic acidosis and should not be used in patients with impaired kidney function or problems with heart or liver function. People who are allergic to this drug's active ingredient or components, patients with type 1 diabetes, acute myocardial infarction, or congestive heart failure, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication. There is a risk of hypoglycemia, so blood sugar should be closely monitored when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, and dosages should be adjusted as necessary. Women planning a pregnancy or who are pregnant should not take this medication and should choose other safe methods for blood sugar control. This medication is not recommended for children under 10 years old or teenagers, and elderly patients may need dosage adjustments based on kidney function.
