Adult dose

The dosage of this medication is determined based on the maximum recommended doses of each component, specifically Linagliptin 2.5 mg and Metformin 1000 mg, not exceeding two doses per day, considering each patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability. Precautions

This medication may cause serious side effects such as lactic acidosis, so caution is needed. Lactic acidosis is a dangerous condition that occurs when lactic acid builds up excessively in the body, which can be life-threatening without immediate treatment. This medication should not be administered to patients with severely impaired kidney function, poor liver function, weakened heart or lung function, or those with acute infections or dehydration. Additionally, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. The risk of hypoglycemia exists; therefore, when used with insulin or sulfonylurea class medications, careful monitoring of blood sugar changes is essential. Elderly patients with diminished kidney function should have their kidney function checked regularly and adjust the dosage if necessary. Acute pancreatitis or skin blistering conditions may occur during medication; thus, if severe abdominal pain or skin abnormalities arise, consult a doctor immediately. Gastrointestinal discomfort symptoms (abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, etc.) can occur frequently, so it is recommended to take the medication with meals or after meals. Be cautious of drug interactions, especially when taking other medications that could affect kidney function; close monitoring of kidney function is required. If receiving iodine contrast agents for radiological exams, this medication should be discontinued before and after the examination until kidney function stabilizes. For surgical procedures, this medication should be stopped 48 hours before surgery and can be resumed once kidney function has recovered post-surgery. If planning to become pregnant or if already pregnant, it is recommended to manage blood sugar with insulin therapy instead of this medication. The safety of this medication in children and adolescents has not been established, so it is not recommended for patients in this age group. This medication should be stored out of reach of children in a cool, dry place.
