Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
This medication is indicated for patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling their blood pressure with the combination therapy of Amlodipine and Olmesartan Medoxomil. It helps lower blood pressure and relax blood vessels to manage hypertension. The combination of these two medications complements each other's actions, allowing for more effective blood pressure management. In particular, when blood pressure control is challenging with a single medication, the combination product can be beneficial. It is used for treating essential hypertension, and consistent use can significantly help in controlling blood pressure and preventing cardiovascular diseases.
This medication should be taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended dosage is as follows: - 5/20/12.5mg: Administered to patients in a combination therapy of Amlodipine/Olmesartan Medoxomil 5/20mg whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled. - 5/40/12.5mg: Administered to patients in a combination therapy of Amlodipine/Olmesartan Medoxomil 5/40mg
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under the age of 18 have not been established, and administration is not recommended.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so if pregnancy is confirmed, use should be discontinued immediately. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients or similar medications, as well as those with certain heart, kidney, or liver diseases, and women who are pregnant or nursing should not take this medication. Patients with excessively low blood pressure, acute heart issues, or severe kidney or liver dysfunction should also avoid this medication. Caution is necessary during early treatment in patients with low blood volume or insufficient salt in the body, as blood pressure may drop sharply; appropriate treatment should be sought if symptoms arise. Patients with severe heart failure or impaired kidney function may experience worsening kidney function while taking this medication, thus regular monitoring is required. Patients with poor liver function or advanced liver cirrhosis, as well as those with specific heart valve disorders, should use this medication with caution. Since this medication has a strong blood pressure-lowering effect, caution is needed when taking it with other antihypertensive drugs, alcohol, or sedatives, as it may cause hypotension or dizziness. While taking this medication, there may be occurrences of dehydration or electrolyte imbalance (e.g., changes in potassium, sodium, magnesium levels), so regular blood tests are necessary. The skin may become sensitive to sunlight; thus, using sunscreen and avoiding direct sunlight is recommended when going outside. This medication can also be used in the elderly, but dosage adjustments and caution are necessary if kidney or liver function is impaired. In cases of overdose, blood pressure may drop too low; individuals should seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. This medication is not recommended for children and adolescents under the age of 18, as safety and effectiveness have not been sufficiently established. This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture, and out of the reach of children.
