Mosapride Tablets 5 mg (Mosapride Citrate Hydrate)

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 15 mg of anhydrous mosapride citrate orally in 3 divided doses before or after meals.

This medication contains lactose, so it should not be used by patients with genetic conditions that result in lactose intolerance. When taking this medication, side effects such as diarrhea, dry mouth, and fatigue may occur, and there may also be changes in liver function or blood test values. If severe liver dysfunction such as hepatitis or jaundice occurs, stop taking the medication immediately and seek medical attention. Reports of allergic reactions such as rash, hives, and edema, as well as gastrointestinal symptoms, dizziness, and headaches have been noted. If symptoms do not improve after taking the medication for more than 2 weeks, it is advisable to avoid long-term use. The effectiveness of this medication may be reduced when taken with anticholinergics, so it should be used cautiously and with an adequate gap between doses. Use during pregnancy or in women who may become pregnant should be considered with caution, and breastfeeding mothers are advised to avoid taking the medication or to stop breastfeeding while taking it. Safety in pediatric patients has not been sufficiently established, so this should be noted. Elderly patients may have decreased kidney and liver function, so careful monitoring of the patient’s condition during treatment is necessary, and doses should be adjusted as needed. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container may adversely affect the quality, so caution is advised.
