This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not well controlled with monotherapy. It is also used as a first-line treatment for Stage 2 hypertension patients who require combination therapy to reach their target blood pressure. Therefore, this drug helps effectively treat hypertension by improving blood pressure control.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this drug is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Typically, this drug 5/50 mg is administered once daily, and if blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled after 2 weeks, the dose may be increased to 1 tablet of 10/50 mg once daily.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this drug in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and its administration is not recommended.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, and should never be taken during pregnancy. It should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Hypotension may occur when initially administering this drug to patients with reduced blood volume, so the condition must be well managed in advance. This drug should not be used in patients who are allergic to any of its components or those with severely impaired liver function, severe aortic stenosis, or patients in shock. Caution is advised in patients with high serum potassium levels or severely impaired kidney function, and regular blood tests should be conducted to monitor their condition. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during the use of this drug, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Pregnant or nursing women should not use this drug, especially during breastfeeding, due to the possibility of drug transfer into breast milk. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not been established, and its use is not recommended. Elderly patients, especially those over 75 years, require initial dose adjustments, and the combination of this drug is not recommended. Caution is needed when used with other antihypertensive agents, as the blood pressure-lowering effect may be enhanced. Concomitant use with grapefruit juice may increase the serum concentration of the drug, so it is advisable to avoid this combination. In cases of overdose, serious hypotension and cardiac function deterioration may occur, thus immediate medical treatment is required. This drug should be stored out of reach of children, and changing the container is not recommended as it may affect product quality.
