This medication is used to treat ulcers in the stomach and duodenum, as well as anastomotic ulcers that occur in surgical sites, and hemorrhagic gastritis caused by peptic ulcers or acute stress, as well as upper gastrointestinal bleeding. It also effectively improves gastric mucosal lesions caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, such as erosion, bleeding, erythema, and edema. Precautions

This medication should not be used by certain patients. Individuals who are allergic to any component of this medication or similar drugs should not take it. Additionally, those with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders should also not use this medication. There are patients who need caution when using this medication. Careful use is required for individuals with a history of allergies, and patients with impaired kidney function may require dosage reduction or extended dosing intervals due to potentially increased concentration of the drug. Those with heart disease should be cautious due to the risk of cardiovascular side effects. Patients with poor liver function should be careful, as symptoms may worsen. Elderly patients should also use cautiously due to the possibility of decreased kidney function. Serious side effects may occur during the use of this medication, so careful observation is needed. Allergy reactions like shock, shortness of breath, and generalized edema may occur, and if any abnormal symptoms appear, the use should be immediately discontinued and medical attention sought. Blood-related issues such as anemia or thrombocytopenia may occur, necessitating regular blood tests. Severe skin rashes or blisters indicative of Stevens-Johnson syndrome may also develop, necessitating caution. Impaired liver function and jaundice may present, along with serious side effects such as muscle damage or heart arrhythmias. Severe adverse reactions such as consciousness disorders, seizures, interstitial nephritis, and pneumonia may also occur, so immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is vital upon symptom onset. During treatment, it is important to carefully monitor the patient’s condition and use the minimum effective dose. If there is no effect, alternative treatment methods should be considered, and periodic checks of blood tests, as well as liver and kidney functions, should be performed. Patients on dialysis may experience reduced effectiveness when using this medication in conjunction with phosphate binders, so caution is advised. This medication may interact with other drugs. In particular, when taken with azole antifungals, blood levels of the antifungal may decrease. Additionally, concurrent use with certain chemotherapy agents may reduce the effectiveness of this medication, so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals of any medications currently being taken. Elderly patients may require dosage adjustments or interval adjustments due to prolonged retention of the drug in the body resulting from decreased kidney function. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks and benefits when using this medication. Nursing women are advised to discontinue breastfeeding, as this medication may pass into breast milk. Safety in children has not been sufficiently established, so caution is needed when used in this population. Lastly, this medication may mask symptoms of stomach cancer, therefore it should only be used after confirming the malignancy status.
