It should also not be given to patients with pheochromocytoma that may induce hypertension due to tumors. Patients with known allergic reactions or intolerances to this medication should avoid its use. This medication is also unsuitable for patients with liver disease and for patients in the manic phase or hypomanic phase of bipolar disorder. Patients with malignant breast disease associated with breast tissue dysplasia should also not receive this medication. This medication contains lactose, so it should not be given to patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders. Caution should be exercised when administering to patients with hypertension, children, and elderly patients, especially since children may easily experience extrapyramidal symptoms and overdose should be avoided. Extrapyramidal symptoms such as tremors, tongue twisting, and anxiety may rarely occur, and if they do, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Prolonged use may lead to involuntary movements around the mouth, so caution is needed. Gastrointestinal side effects may include dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Cardiovascular side effects like hypertension or arrhythmias may also arise, so caution is required. A severe side effect known as neuroleptic malignant syndrome has been reported, and if symptoms appear, medication administration must stop immediately and emergency treatment should be sought. The use in pregnant and breastfeeding women is not advisable due to lack of established safety. In elderly patients, renal function decline may prolong the drug’s presence in the body, so adjustment of dosage and administration intervals while monitoring for side effects is necessary. This medication has anti-emetic properties and may mask vomiting symptoms from other causes, hence careful monitoring and assessment during its use are required.
