This medicine is used for hypertension that is not adequately controlled by monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The usual adult dosage is 50 mg of losartan potassium / 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide, administered once a day as 1 tablet. If blood pressure is not controlled, after 3 weeks of administration, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 100 mg of losartan potassium / 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide, taken once a day as 1 tablet. As an alternative regimen, for patients not controlled on 100 mg of losartan potassium monotherapy, losartan potassium 100 mg / hydrochlorothiazide

Child dose

There is no experience of use in pediatric and adolescent patients (under 18 years), so it should not be administered.

Precautions

This medicine can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It should also not be used in patients with allergies to this medication or its components, severely impaired kidney function, severely damaged liver function, and certain electrolyte imbalances. Caution is required when using this medicine in patients with hypotension, kidney impairment, liver disease, diabetes, and the elderly, and care must be taken to avoid too low a blood pressure. During treatment with this medicine, electrolyte levels in the blood and kidney function should be monitored regularly, and any symptoms of dehydration or electrolyte imbalance should prompt immediate consultation with healthcare personnel. Due to the hydrochlorothiazide component, skin rash, hives, and photosensitivity reactions may occur; any unusual symptoms should lead to discontinuing the medication and consulting a doctor. As this medicine lowers blood pressure, dizziness or drowsiness may occur in the early stages of treatment; caution is required when driving or operating machinery. Potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes should not be taken together without consulting a physician, and there may be interactions with other medications, so any currently taken medications should be disclosed. Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding should definitely consult a physician before taking this medicine; it is recommended to avoid taking this medicine or to stop breastfeeding while on this medication. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension and tachycardia may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought for proper treatment. This medication should not be used in children and adolescents, and should be stored out of the reach of children, tightly closed in its original container.
