Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
This medication is used for the treatment of patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not well controlled with either amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil monotherapy. This drug dilates blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and reducing the cardiovascular burden. It helps prevent complications due to hypertension, thereby improving the patient's health status.
This medication should be taken once a day with one tablet, regardless of meals, along with water. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day, preferably in the morning. The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20 mg: For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg monotherapy. - 10/20 mg: For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg monotherapy.
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established.
This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients in this medication, those who are pregnant or nursing, and those with certain conditions such as severe liver disease, aortic stenosis, biliary obstruction, or who are undergoing dialysis should not take this medication. Patients who are depleted of fluid or salt, those with severe obstructive coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, or impaired renal function must take this medication with caution and monitor for symptoms such as hypotension or worsening renal function. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, hypotension, cough, dyspepsia, skin rash, myalgia, edema may occur while taking this medication, and if any adverse symptoms appear, consultation with a healthcare professional is advised. This medication may pose risks to the fetus during pregnancy; hence those planning or currently pregnant should inform their healthcare provider and may need to switch to a safer alternative if necessary. In breastfeeding mothers, this medication may be transferred to breast milk and affect infants; therefore, it is recommended to either stop breastfeeding or discontinue the medication. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age, and its use is not recommended for them. Elderly patients may have decreased renal and liver function, so dosage adjustment and monitoring are necessary while taking this medication. In case of overdose, symptoms like hypotension and tachycardia may occur, and immediate medical assistance is required while monitoring cardiac and respiratory functions regularly. This medication should be stored in a place away from direct sunlight and moisture, out of reach of children, and transferring to another container should be avoided. During the use of this medication, there may be interactions with other drugs, so if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform the healthcare provider.
Urticaria, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosal pain, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), severe lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, decreased urine output
