It is important for patients to continue taking the medication as directed by healthcare professionals while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This medication improves blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
The dosage of this medication should not exceed the maximum recommended dose of Linagliptin 2.5 mg and Metformin 1000 mg, administered twice daily, taking into account each patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability. This medication is taken orally twice a day with meals. 1. If the patient is not currently being treated with Metformin: Start with an initial dose of this medication at 2.5/500 mg, administered twice a day, taking one tablet per dose.
This medication helps to control blood sugar levels. When taking this medication, be cautious of a rare side effect called lactic acidosis. Lactic acidosis is a serious condition that occurs when lactic acid accumulates excessively in the body, especially at higher risk in patients with poor kidney function or heart disease. This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, it should not be taken by those who have an allergy to this medication, patients with type 1 diabetes, patients with severe renal impairment, those with acute myocardial infarction, and pregnant or nursing women. When used with other diabetes medications that pose a risk of hypoglycemia, caution is needed to avoid excessively low blood sugar levels. Particularly, when used in combination with sulfonylureas or insulin, there is a possibility of hypoglycemia, so it is necessary to discuss dosage adjustments with a physician. Since kidney function is crucial, individuals should regularly check their kidney function before starting treatment and during treatment. If kidney function declines, usage of this medication should be halted or adjusted. During acute infections, dehydration, severe trauma, before and after surgery, and before and after radiographic contrast tests, this medication should be temporarily stopped and can be resumed once the condition stabilizes. This medication should be used with caution in patients with liver dysfunction, and it is advisable to avoid use in cases of severe gastrointestinal disorders. Rare side effects such as acute pancreatitis, severe arthralgia, and blistering dermatitis may occur; if such symptoms occur, contact healthcare professionals immediately. This medication can lower vitamin B12 levels, so regular monitoring of vitamin B12 status is necessary if taken for an extended period. Additionally, this medication may interact with multiple drugs, so if taking other medications, be sure to inform your physician or pharmacist. Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should avoid taking this medication, and it is not recommended for nursing mothers either. It is not recommended for children under 10 years old or adolescents aged 10-17 years as safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently confirmed. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney function, so it is essential to adjust the dosage and frequently monitor kidney function. In the case of an overdose, there is a risk of lactic acidosis, and immediate medical attention should be sought; if necessary, blood dialysis can be performed to remove the medication. Store this medication out of the reach of children, avoiding moisture, and retaining it in the original container.
