This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken orally once daily and should be administered at the same time each day. If needed, it may also be taken twice daily. The maximum daily dose is 20mg, increasing by 5mg per week for the first 3 weeks. First week: 5mg once daily Second week: 10mg once daily Third week: 15mg once daily From the fourth week onward: 20mg once daily The maintenance dose is 20mg once daily. The recommended dose for elderly patients (65 years and older) is also 20mg.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to any of its ingredients. It should not be administered to patients with severely impaired liver function or significantly reduced kidney function. Patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, or those predisposed to epilepsy, should use this medication with caution. Combining this medication with certain drugs such as Amantadine, Ketamine, or Dextromethorphan may increase the risk of side effects, so it is advisable not to take them together. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously after consulting their doctor, as it may affect the fetus.
