Improvement of blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to assist in blood glucose control for patients with type 2 diabetes who are taking both linagliptin and metformin. When taken in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy, it can effectively manage blood glucose levels. It is used to help significantly manage blood glucose control and improve diabetes symptoms.
The dosage of this medication should be determined based on each patient's treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerance, without exceeding the maximum daily dosages of 2.5 mg of linagliptin and 1000 mg of metformin, to be taken twice a day along with meals. 1. If the patient is not currently being treated with metformin: Start with an initial dosage of 2.5/500 mg twice daily, one tablet at a time, and it can be increased to a maximum of 2.5/1000 mg. 2.
This medication contains two components, metformin and linagliptin, and is primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. There is a risk of rare but serious side effects like lactic acidosis, so patients with poor kidney function, liver problems, acute heart disease, heart failure, or acute alcohol intoxication should not take this medication. Moreover, it should not be given to individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication or those with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or pre-coma conditions. When used with other antidiabetic medications or insulin that have a risk of hypoglycemia, patients should be cautious of hypoglycemic symptoms, and the dose of hypoglycemic drugs may need to be reduced if necessary. Elderly patients with impaired kidney function or those taking medications that may impact kidney function should have regular kidney function tests, and if kidney function is severely diminished, this medication should be discontinued. This medication should be temporarily stopped during acute illnesses or around the time of surgery, and also before and after administration of iodine-based contrast agents used in radiological examinations, while ensuring kidney function is assessed. During use, there may be rare skin conditions like acute pancreatitis or blistering dermatosis, so if persistent severe abdominal pain or blistering or rash occurs, patients should consult a doctor immediately. Long-term use may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency, so if there are signs of anemia or neurological symptoms, blood tests should be conducted to check vitamin B12 levels. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant and nursing mothers are advised not to use this medication. Safety has not been established for children and adolescents, and its use is not recommended. Elderly patients are at risk for decreased kidney function, so caution is advised when administering, and regular kidney function tests are necessary. Taking this medication with alcohol may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so alcohol consumption should be avoided. Additionally, there may be interactions with specific medications, so patients should inform their doctor or pharmacist of any other medications they are taking. In case of overdose, serious side effects like lactic acidosis may occur, and immediate hospital treatment should be sought, which may include hemodialysis. Store this medication away from the reach of children, avoiding moisture and keeping it in its original container.
