This medication is used to effectively control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not well controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water without regard to meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time daily (e.g., morning). 5/80 Milligrams: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is inadequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine 5 milligrams or valsartan 80 milligrams. 5/160 Milligrams: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is inadequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine 5 milligrams or valsartan 160 milligrams.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so the administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, and should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to this medication's active ingredients or similar class of drugs, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and patients with severe kidney or liver disease should not take this medication. Patients with fluid or sodium deficiency, hyperkalemia, renal artery stenosis, recent kidney transplant, history of angioedema, heart failure, or post-myocardial infarction, aortic stenosis should use this medication with caution. While taking this medication, side effects such as hypotension, dizziness, headache, swelling, skin rash, dyspepsia may occur; if any abnormal symptoms arise, consult a physician or pharmacist. Caution is advised as intermittent dizziness or fatigue may occur while driving or operating machinery. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, potassium supplements, certain diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), so inform your healthcare provider about any medications you are taking. Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should not take this medication, and it is also not recommended for breastfeeding women. Safety and efficacy have not been adequately established for patients under 18 years old, so its use in this population is not recommended. Overdose may result in severe hypotension or shock; hence, it is crucial to adhere to the prescribed dosage and seek immediate medical attention if abnormal symptoms occur.
