Treatment of essential hypertension and reduction of cardiovascular disease risk
This medicine is used to treat essential hypertension. It also has the effect of reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. In particular, it helps reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and death from cardiovascular disease in high-risk diabetic patients aged 55 and older who have a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, or transient ischemic attack, or evidence of end-organ damage, especially when ACE inhibitors cannot be used. Therefore, this medicine is used to effectively lower the risks of hypertension as well as cardiovascular complications.
Essential hypertension Adults: Administer orally 40 mg once daily as Telmisartan, taken with water, regardless of meals. In some patients, 20 mg once daily may also be effective. If necessary, the dose can be increased up to 80 mg once daily, and maximum blood pressure-lowering effects appear 4 to 8 weeks after the dose increase. Reduction of cardiovascular disease risk Adults: It is recommended to administer 80 mg orally once daily with water, regardless of meals.
