This medication is used in conjunction with dietary management and exercise to help patients with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. How to take

Adult dose

The dosage of this medication is determined for each patient based on the current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability within the maximum recommended dose of linagliptin 2.5 mg and metformin 1000 mg taken twice daily. This medication is administered twice daily with meals. 1. If currently not treated with metformin: The initial dosage of this medication is 2.5/500 mg to be taken twice daily, one tablet each time.

Precautions

This medication can cause a rare but very serious side effect called lactic acidosis; therefore, it should not be used in patients with impaired kidney function or those with severe infections, dehydration, or heart or liver diseases. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients in this medication, those with type 1 diabetes, those with diabetic ketoacidosis, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Caution is advised when using this medication in conjunction with other blood sugar-lowering drugs or insulin due to the risk of hypoglycemia, and dosages of other medications may need to be adjusted accordingly. Elderly patients with deteriorating kidney function or those taking medications that may affect kidney function should have regular kidney function tests, and this medication should be discontinued if kidney function worsens. Acute pancreatitis or skin blistering disorders may occur, so if abdominal pain or skin abnormalities occur during treatment, it is important to inform medical staff immediately. The metformin component may lower vitamin B12 levels, so regular monitoring of vitamin B12 levels is recommended for long-term use. This medication is not recommended during pregnancy, and women planning to become pregnant or currently pregnant must consult a doctor. In situations where kidney function may temporarily worsen due to surgery, radiation tests, etc., use of this medication should be temporarily discontinued, and resumed once kidney function recovers. The safety and efficacy in children and patients under 10 years of age have not been established, and it is advisable not to use it in these populations. The effects on driving or operating machinery are not clear, but caution is advised due to the risk of hypoglycemia. In case of overdose, severe side effects such as lactic acidosis may occur; therefore, it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and visit a medical institution immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise. Store this medication away from moisture and direct sunlight, and keep it out of reach of children; avoid transferring it to other containers.
