  • Essential hypertension
View approved original text

This medication is indicated for patients with essential hypertension. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine or telmisartan monotherapy, this medicine can be added to manage blood pressure effectively. By stabilizing blood pressure, the risk of complications related to hypertension, such as heart disease or stroke, can be reduced. This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should not be used by women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients in this medication or those with certain cardiovascular diseases, liver impairment, severe hypotension, or unstable conditions after acute myocardial infarction should not take this medication. Patients with liver dysfunction, biliary obstruction, gastrointestinal conditions, renal problems, and the elderly should exercise special caution when using this medication, and doses should be adjusted under the guidance of a physician. This medication can commonly cause side effects such as dizziness and leg swelling, and rarely may lead to serious side effects, so immediate medical consultation is required if any abnormal symptoms appear. The use of this medication should be avoided during pregnancy and, if pregnancy is confirmed, treatment should be discontinued as soon as possible and switched to a safer alternative. Since this medication lowers blood pressure, hypotension may occur, especially in patients with fluid depletion; conditions should be assessed before treatment starts. Caution is required when taking potassium supplements or foods high in potassium because of the increased risk of elevated potassium levels in the blood. Patients with renal impairment should have their kidney function and electrolyte levels regularly monitored while taking this medication. Patients with heart disease should be carefully monitored, as the use of this medication may increase the risk of angina pectoris or myocardial infarction. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness; therefore, caution should be exercised when driving or operating dangerous machinery. Drug interactions may occur when taking this medication with other drugs, so any other medications being taken should be disclosed to a physician or pharmacist. This medication is not recommended for children as its safety and effectiveness have not been sufficiently established in this population.
