Relief of inflammation and pain from chronic polyarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
This medication is used for chronic inflammatory joint diseases such as chronic polyarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and spinal diseases like ankylosing spondylitis. It helps alleviate painful swelling and inflammation that occur after trauma or surgery, and aids in the treatment of infections accompanied by inflammation, pain, and fever. Due to its efficacy for a variety of inflammatory diseases and pain relief, it contributes to the improvement of patient symptoms.
As dexibuprofen, adults should take 300 mg orally, 2 to 4 times a day with meals. However, the total daily dose should not exceed 1,200 mg.
For children over 6 years old, dexibuprofen is administered orally in divided doses of about 15 mg per kg of body weight, 2 to 4 times a day. Children weighing less than 30 kg should not exceed a total daily dose of 300 mg.
This medication can cause gastrointestinal bleeding if taken by individuals who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol per day; therefore, consulting a doctor or pharmacist before use is necessary. This medication may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, making it essential for those with a history of heart disease or vascular disease or risk factors to undergo careful assessment before taking it. This medication can cause serious gastrointestinal side effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforation; therefore, elderly individuals or those with a history of gastrointestinal diseases should take special precautions. Those with gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding, severe blood disorders, liver impairment, renal impairment, heart failure, high blood pressure, etc., should not take this medication. This medication should not be used in combination with aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as the risk of side effects may increase. During treatment, breastfeeding should be suspended or drug administration discontinued, and due to potential dizziness or fatigue, caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Individuals with specific conditions such as blood disorders, liver impairment, renal impairment, high blood pressure, elderly patients, and pregnant women should consult a healthcare professional before use. If serious adverse reactions such as shock, blood disorders, gastrointestinal symptoms, skin rash, liver dysfunction, respiratory issues, neurological abnormalities, etc., occur during treatment, use must be stopped immediately, and medical consultation is necessary. This medication should be taken at the minimum effective dose for the shortest duration possible, and regular blood tests and assessments of liver and kidney function are required during long-term use. After the 20th week of pregnancy, there is a risk of fetal renal dysfunction and oligohydramnios; hence this medication should only be used for a short duration at the minimum dose, with monitoring of amniotic fluid status during long-term use. In case of overdose, even if symptoms are absent, it is essential to visit a medical facility promptly for appropriate treatment, and it should be stored out of reach of children in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
