Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients undergoing dialysis or those with reduced kidney function. It should also not be given to individuals who are allergic to this drug or its components, those with a history of acute porphyria, patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, premature infants and newborns, and those on a dietary regimen restricting potassium intake. Caution is advised in individuals with liver dysfunction, a history of drug allergies, elderly patients, those with a previous history of kidney problems, and patients taking NSAIDs. Especially since it can mask symptoms of gastric cancer, patients with gastric ulcers or middle-aged and older individuals who newly experience dyspeptic symptoms should confirm malignancy before use. Patients with Helicobacter pylori infection associated with gastric or duodenal ulcers require eradication therapy. Critical patients in intensive care or those with hypophosphatemia should also be cautious. This medication can rarely cause severe allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock; if any unusual symptoms occur during administration, discontinue the medication immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, angioedema, fever, bronchospasm, and hypotension may also occur, and usage should be stopped if these symptoms appear. Various side effects have been reported, including reduced blood cell counts, liver function abnormalities, arrhythmias, gastrointestinal symptoms, dizziness, drowsiness, and mental confusion, so inform medical personnel if symptoms occur. This medication should not be used for prolonged periods without effect, and other medications should be considered. Regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests should be performed. Elderly patients or those with chronic conditions may have an increased risk of pneumonia. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs, avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform medical personnel of any medications being taken, especially when used with certain antibiotics or anticoagulants. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication, and safety in children has not been established, so administration is not recommended. Because it can affect test results, caution is needed during urine protein tests, and appropriate emergency measures such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary in case of overdose. Lastly, this medication can reduce gastric acid secretion, promoting bacterial growth in the stomach, and long-term use may lead to side effects related to ocular melanin, necessitating ophthalmic examination.
