This medication improves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia and reduces the enlarged prostate, facilitating urinary flow. It also reduces the incidence of acute urinary retention and decreases the necessity for surgeries such as transurethral resection of the prostate or enucleation. Therefore, it is effectively used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

How to take

Adult dose

Finasteride is administered orally at a dose of 5 mg once daily, regardless of meals. Even if symptoms improve, a minimum of 6 months of treatment is required.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by children or women. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should take care not to handle broken pieces of this medication, as it may affect male fetuses. During the use of this medication, symptoms of depression or mood changes may occur; if these symptoms arise, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional.
