Relief of itching and inflammation in corticosteroid-responsive skin conditions
Corticosteroids help effectively relieve itching and inflammation on the skin. This medication regulates the immune response to reduce the uncomfortable symptoms caused by skin diseases. Patients can expect improvement in their skin condition and a reduction in discomfort in their daily lives through these effects. Therefore, corticosteroids are used to treat itching and inflammation associated with skin diseases.
Apply a thin layer to the affected area once daily and gently rub until fully absorbed. Avoid using occlusive dressings.
This medication is a steroid for topical use and should not be used in patients with specific skin infections. Using this medication in the presence of bacterial, fungal, viral infections, or animal-related skin infections may worsen symptoms. Individuals with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to this medication or its ingredients should avoid use. Do not apply this medication to eczema in patients with perforation of the eardrum or those with ulcers, severe burns, or frostbite, as it may delay skin healing. It is also advisable not to use it in patients with perioral dermatitis, common acne, rosacea, or those with anal or genital itching. It should not be used in infants under 2 years of age. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should use this medication cautiously and consult with a doctor if necessary. Children and elderly patients are also at higher risk of side effects when using this medication, so caution is required. This medication contains a component called propylene glycol; individuals allergic or sensitive to this ingredient should use it cautiously. Prolonged or extensive use may cause various side effects such as skin infections, skin irritation, rashes, itching, skin atrophy, etc. Particularly, using occlusive dressings increases the risk of infection, so caution is necessary. Due to systemic absorption, the drug may cause systemic side effects such as suppression of pituitary-adrenal function, Cushing's syndrome, and blood sugar abnormalities, requiring regular monitoring. Exercise caution when using it around the eyes, as it may increase intraocular pressure or risk of glaucoma; if visual disturbances such as blurred vision occur, consult a specialist immediately. For dermatitis accompanied by skin infections, it is safer to treat appropriately with antimicrobial or antifungal agents before using this medication. If symptoms worsen or do not improve, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Pregnant women or nursing mothers should follow their physician's guidance regarding the use of this medication as it may impact the fetus or newborn. Children have a higher ratio of skin surface area to body weight, increasing the risk of side effects, so it is recommended not to use it continuously for more than 3 weeks. In elderly patients, the risk of side effects is higher, so careful monitoring is required during prolonged use. This medication is not for ophthalmic use and should not be used for purposes other than treatment, such as after makeup or shaving. The use of occlusive dressings should be conducted under medical supervision, and the affected area should be kept clean to reduce infection risk. Keep out of reach of children to prevent safety accidents.
