Treatment of gastrointestinal diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis
This medication is used to treat ulcers that occur in the stomach and duodenum. It is also effective for specific conditions such as gastritis and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It helps relieve symptoms due to gastroesophageal reflux disease and is administered to prevent Mendelson's syndrome during the preoperative anesthesia process. It is also used to improve symptoms and aid healing in gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Generally taken orally, 2 tablets twice a day regardless of meals, in the morning and before bedtime. 1) For gastric and duodenal ulcers: administer 2 tablets twice daily or 4 tablets once daily before bedtime. For duodenal ulcer patients, 4 tablets may be administered twice daily in the morning and before bedtime. 2) For gastroesophageal reflux disease: take 2 tablets twice daily for 8 weeks or 4 tablets once daily before bedtime.
This medication should not be used in patients with poor kidney function or those undergoing dialysis. Additionally, it should be avoided in patients who have had an allergy to this drug or its components, those with a history of acute porphyria, patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, premature infants and neonates, and those on a potassium-restricted diet. Patients with liver dysfunction, those with a history of drug allergy, the elderly, patients with kidney issues, and those using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be closely monitored when using this medication. It is important to verify malignancy in patients with gastric ulcers or those over middle age who have newly developed or changed dyspeptic symptoms, as this medication can mask symptoms of gastric cancer. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers harboring Helicobacter pylori require additional treatment to eradicate the bacteria. Caution is advised for patients in intensive care or those with hypophosphatemia, and for those who have difficulty swallowing. While taking this medication, various side effects such as allergic reactions, shock, skin rashes, urticaria, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, cardiac arrhythmia, digestive disorders, neurological symptoms, myalgia, hair loss, etc., may occur, and any unusual symptoms should prompt immediate consultation with medical staff. Long-term continuous use is not recommended, and if therapeutic efficacy is absent, switching to another medication is advisable. The elderly, patients with chronic pulmonary disease, diabetes, or weakened immune systems are at higher risk for pneumonia, hence caution is warranted. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs, avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform the healthcare provider of any medications being taken, especially when used with anticoagulants or antibiotics. It is safest for pregnant or breastfeeding women not to use this medication. The safety and efficacy of this drug have not been sufficiently established in children, hence its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, emergency measures such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary, and in severe cases, removal via hemodialysis can be performed. This medication reduces gastric acid secretion, which may promote bacterial growth in the gastrointestinal tract, so an eye examination may be necessary with long-term use.
Urticaria, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness (chest pain), difficulty breathing (bronchospasm), cold sweat, pallor (hypotension), severe allergic reactions (anaphylactic shock, shock), high fever with severe rash, blistering, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis), shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities with cough+fever (bronchospasm), skin

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air ingress, and it is recommended to keep it at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage can maintain the medication's efficacy and prevent deterioration.
