This medication is administered twice daily with meals. 1. Precautions

This medication can cause a serious side effect called lactic acidosis, and should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function or liver damage. Patients who are allergic to the active ingredients or components of this medication, those with type 1 diabetes, and patients with acute myocardial infarction or severe heart failure should also not take this medication. Particular caution is required when using this medication in patients with slightly impaired kidney function, the elderly, those with unstable heart function, patients receiving iodinated contrast media, and those scheduled for surgery. This medication can cause hypoglycemia, so when taken with insulin or sulfonylurea agents, blood sugar changes should be closely monitored. Rare side effects such as acute pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid causing blisters may occur, so if abdominal pain or skin abnormalities arise during use, consult a doctor immediately. The metformin component may lower vitamin B12 levels, so regular checks for vitamin B12 deficiency are necessary during long-term use. This medication is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and should be discussed with a doctor if pregnancy is planned. Safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established for children under 10 years of age or for adolescents aged 10 to 17, and is not recommended for these groups. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney function, so it is advisable to regularly monitor kidney function and to start at the minimum dose. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so it should be avoided, and when used in conjunction with other medications, the possibility of interactions should be considered under the advice of a physician. Additionally, this medication should be stored in a cool, dry place away from moisture and out of reach of children.
