This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension and is effectively used to improve blood pressure when blood pressure control is insufficient with telmisartan alone.

How to take

Adult dose

For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with telmisartan alone, this medication should be taken once daily with water, regardless of food intake. Before switching to this fixed-dose combination, it is recommended to adjust each component's dose according to the individual. If clinically appropriate, direct switching from the standalone therapy to this medication may also be considered. In terms of dosage, there are 40/12.5mg, 80/12.5mg, and 80/25mg available.

Child dose

This medication is not administered to patients under 18 years of age as its safety and efficacy have not been established in this population.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can pose serious risks to the fetus and newborn. This medication should not be administered to patients with an allergy to the active ingredients or excipients, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and patients with severe liver or kidney disease. Caution should be exercised in elderly patients or those with hyperkalemia or impaired liver function, as excessive blood pressure reduction can lead to heart or brain problems. Various side effects such as dizziness, hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, skin rash, and gastrointestinal disturbances may occur during the use of this medication; if symptoms occur, medical personnel should be informed immediately. Particularly, there is an increased risk of skin cancer when there are skin abnormalities or exposure to sunlight, so care should be taken to protect against sunlight. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, lithium, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so any other medications being taken should be disclosed. If pregnancy is planned or confirmed, this medication should be stopped immediately and changed to a safer alternative. This medication is also not recommended during breastfeeding, and its safety and efficacy have not been established in children. In the event of an overdose, hypotension, electrolyte abnormalities, and dehydration may occur, so immediate medical treatment is required. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or drowsiness may occur when taking this medication.

  • Urticaria, severe swelling (angioedema), difficulty breathing, angioedema (including fatal outcomes), chest tightness, pallor → severe allergic reactions.
  • Severe rash, blisters, skin peeling with high fever, pain in oral/ocular mucosa → severe skin reactions.
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, pulmonary edema, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) → respiratory problems.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
