How to take

Adult dose

Start with Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily, 1 tablet. If blood pressure is not controlled after 3 weeks, the dose can be increased to Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg once daily, 1 tablet. Doses exceeding Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg once daily are not preferred. It can be taken without regard to meals.

Child dose

There is no experience using this drug in children and adolescents; therefore, the losartan-hydrochlorothiazide combination should not be administered to this age group.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients allergic to any components of this medication or those with specific kidney or liver diseases or electrolyte imbalances should not use this drug. Patients with very low blood pressure, severely impaired kidney function, or certain genetic diseases should also avoid this medication. This drug may interact with other antihypertensive medications or specific drugs, so it is essential to inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and it is recommended to avoid use while breastfeeding. The safety of this medication has not been established for children and adolescents, so it is not used in this population. Elderly patients may experience more frequent adverse reactions, requiring special caution during use. Store this medication out of reach of children and keep it sealed in its original container.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema (swelling of the lips and eyelids and facial rash), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, angioedema (laryngeal/pharyngeal edema which can cause airway obstruction, swelling of the face/lips/pharynx/tongue), anaphylactic reaction, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, mucosal pain in mouth/eyes, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis.
