Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive reflux esophagitis), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori-positive peptic ulcers, treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and other gastrointestinal disorders
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive reflux esophagitis, and is effective as a long-term maintenance therapy for the prevention of recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It also helps improve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used as part of a combination therapy with antibiotics to treat Helicobacter pylori infection, contributing to the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers. It is also effective in treating and preventing upper gastrointestinal symptoms and ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for the prevention and maintenance therapy of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. Overall, it is a very useful medication for the treatment and symptom relief of gastrointestinal disorders.
This medication should be swallowed with liquid (such as water) and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - If erosive esophagitis is not adequately treated or symptoms persist, may continue for an additional 4 weeks - Maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence: 20 mg once daily - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 1
Adolescents over 12 years - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - If not treated or symptoms persist, may continue for an additional 4 weeks - Gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis
This drug should not be administered to patients with known allergies to certain ingredients or a history of hypersensitivity. It should also not be given to patients with allergies to penicillin or macrolide antibiotics, patients taking certain heart medications, nursing women, patients with a history of myocardial infarction, and those taking certain antiviral medications. This medication contains a dye called Yellow No. 5, and should be used with caution in patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to this ingredient. Various side effects, such as headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and skin rash, may occur during treatment; therefore, patients should consult a doctor immediately if they experience any unusual symptoms. Long-term use may lead to hypomagnesemia, increased risk of fractures, and higher susceptibility to gastrointestinal infections; regular monitoring is recommended. This drug inhibits stomach acid secretion, which may interact with other medications, especially antiviral agents, anticoagulants, and anticonvulsants; caution is necessary when using in combination. The safety of this drug during pregnancy has not been sufficiently established, so it should be used only when necessary and under a doctor's supervision; it is recommended that nursing women do not take this medication. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote; symptomatic treatment is required and it should be stored out of reach of children. Additionally, transferring medications to other containers may cause accidents or degradation of quality, so caution is advised.
