Improvement of urinary symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia
This medication is used to improve urination disorders caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia.
In adults, initiate treatment with naftopidil at 25mg once daily. If the effect is insufficient, gradually increase the dose to 50~75mg at intervals of 1~2 weeks, and administer orally once daily after a meal. The dose may be adjusted according to symptoms, but the maximum daily dose is 75mg.
This medication should not be used by patients who have had allergic reactions to any of its ingredients. Additionally, since it contains lactose, patients with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Patients with poor liver function, severe cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases, and the elderly should use this medication with caution. Particularly, the elderly may have an increased blood concentration due to decreased liver function, so caution is necessary. Patients taking other medications for blood pressure control should consult their doctor as there is a risk of excessively low blood pressure. Patients with orthostatic hypotension should also be cautious when taking this medication. Side effects such as dizziness, lightheadedness, hypotension, and abdominal discomfort may occur, and in severe cases, liver dysfunction or loss of consciousness can occur, so if any unusual symptoms arise, immediate medical attention is required. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop rapidly, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly adhered to. Care should be taken especially during the initial dosage or when suddenly increasing the dose, as dizziness due to orthostatic hypotension may occur, and it is advisable to refrain from driving or engaging in hazardous activities. Before taking this medication, check whether you are taking blood pressure medication and take appropriate measures if symptoms of low blood pressure appear. This medication does not treat the cause but is for alleviating symptoms, so if it is ineffective, other treatment options should be considered. Additionally, taking it with diuretics or antihypertensive medications may intensify the blood pressure-lowering effects, so caution is needed. Particularly, there is a risk of excessively low blood pressure when combined with PDE5 inhibitors, so it must be discussed with healthcare providers. Keep out of reach of children, and the packaged medication should be taken out for use; swallowing it while still packaged may cause injury to the esophagus.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a sealed container that does not allow light to enter, and it is best stored at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way will help maintain the effectiveness of the medication.
