How to take

Adult dose

Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, once daily, one tablet. A dose exceeding Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg per day is not recommended. The treatment should start with Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, once daily, one tablet, and if blood pressure is not controlled after three weeks of treatment, it may be increased to a maximum of Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg.

Child dose

There is no experience with the use of this medication in children and adolescents, so the Losartan-Hydrochlorothiazide combination should not be administered to children and adolescents.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take it. Patients with allergies to this drug's components, certain kidney diseases, liver diseases, electrolyte imbalances, gout, or severe renal impairment should avoid using this medication. Patients with low blood pressure, weakened kidney function, a history of liver disease, elderly patients, or diabetic patients should use this medication with caution, and should be careful of sun exposure due to an increased risk of skin cancer. While taking this medication, regular tests for blood pressure, blood electrolyte levels, and kidney function should be conducted to detect any anomalies, especially to avoid excessively high or low potassium levels. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, potassium supplements, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Therefore, patients must inform their doctor or pharmacist of any other medications they are taking. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Adverse reactions may include skin rash, headache, dizziness, and cough. If pregnant or breastfeeding, discontinue this medication and consult a doctor; it should not be used in children or adolescents. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension and rapid heartbeat may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container. It is also advisable not to take it with grapefruit juice.

Craniosynostosis, anuria, hypotension, renal failure, angioedema, skin detachment, hemolysis, cardiovascular abnormalities (angina, arrhythmia, cerebrovascular accidents, hypotension, myocardial infarction, secondary AV block), hematological abnormalities (anemia, aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia), liver abnormalities (hepatitis, jaundice, intrahepatic cholestatic jaundice), vasculitis, pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
