Pitavastatin 2mg monotherapy is effective for adequately controlling the LDL-cholesterol levels in adult patients at high risk for coronary heart disease. However, this treatment is used in cases of mixed dyslipidemia that increase triglyceride levels and decrease HDL-cholesterol levels. In other words, this medication primarily acts on lowering LDL-cholesterol and is utilized in the treatment of mixed dyslipidemia.

How to take

Adult dose

As a recommended dose, take 1 capsule once daily immediately after a meal.

Precautions

This medication is a lipid-lowering agent that can cause serious damage to muscles when taken in combination with other lipid-lowering drugs. Symptoms such as muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, and cramps should be reported to a physician immediately, and blood tests should be conducted to check for muscle damage. Special caution is needed for individuals over 65 years old, women, and those with poor kidney function or hypothyroidism. The risk of muscle toxicity increases when this medication is taken with certain drugs, so it is crucial to consult a physician before concurrent administration.
