Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For patients with ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, or peripheral arterial disease, administer clopidogrel 75 mg orally once daily. In patients with acute coronary syndrome, initiate with a loading dose of 300 mg orally once daily on the first day, followed by a maintenance dose of 75 mg orally once daily. Precautions

This medication helps ensure blood flows well by preventing platelets from clumping together. The effectiveness of this medication may be reduced in individuals with genetically reduced function of the specific enzyme CYP2C19. In such cases, it may be necessary to modify the treatment approach or use other medications. It is also not recommended to take this medication concurrently with drugs that increase the activity of the CYP2C19 enzyme, as it may lead to excessively strong effects and increased bleeding risk. Patients who are allergic to this medication, have severe bleeding, very poor liver function, breastfeeding women, or those with certain genetic disorders such as lactose intolerance should not use this medication. Patients at high risk for bleeding should use this medication cautiously and must receive blood tests immediately if bleeding symptoms are suspected. Particular care is needed when taken with other bleeding risk medications, and if surgery is planned, this medication should be discontinued 5 to 7 days prior to the procedure. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal bleeding, skin rash, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, and other side effects may occur. If severe bleeding or blood-related abnormal symptoms appear, immediate consultation with a physician is required. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult with their physician regarding the use of this medication, as there is an increased risk of bleeding during delivery. The safety and effectiveness of this medication have not been established in children, so it is advisable not to use it in this population. Older adults may have impaired kidney or liver function, thus requiring dose adjustments and monitoring. In case of overdose, bleeding time may prolong and the risk of bleeding may increase, so it is crucial to adhere to the prescribed dosage, and in case of overdose, visit a healthcare facility immediately. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to different containers. When starting a new medication or undergoing surgery while on this medication, it is essential to inform healthcare providers that you are taking this medication.
