Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive esophagitis, symptoms) and eradication of Helicobacter pylori associated with benign peptic ulcers, relief of NSAID-related gastrointestinal symptoms, and other gastrointestinal disorders.
This medicine is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive reflux esophagitis, as well as for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent relapse in patients with esophagitis. It is effective for the treatment and prevention of relapse in patients with duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers as part of an eradication therapy for Helicobacter pylori. Additionally, it is used for the relief of upper gastrointestinal symptoms occurring in patients taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and for the treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is also utilized for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy after the prevention of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. Overall, it is widely used to treat gastrointestinal diseases and related complications.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. Adults may take it for gastroesophageal reflux disease, eradication of Helicobacter pylori, upper gastrointestinal symptoms related to NSAIDs, and for gastric ulcer treatment as follows: - Erosive reflux esophagitis treatment: Once daily for 4 weeks, 40 mg per dose - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of esophagitis: Once daily, 20 mg per dose -
For adolescents aged 12 years and older, the same dosage as adults applies, - Erosive reflux esophagitis treatment: Once daily for 4 weeks, 40 mg per dose - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: Once daily,
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should be avoided in cases of allergy to this medication or its components, or if currently taking certain antibiotics or medications. When taking this medication, various side effects may occur, so caution is needed. Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, while rare but serious side effects may include blood abnormalities, hypersensitivity reactions, liver dysfunction, and skin rashes. Long-term use requires regular monitoring of health status, and particularly if taken for more than a year, blood tests to check for abnormalities such as magnesium levels are important. Since this medication suppresses stomach acid secretion, there may be a slightly increased risk of gastrointestinal bacterial infections. If diarrhea persists, consultation with a physician is necessary. Additionally, patients with osteoporosis or a high risk of fractures should exercise caution as long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of fractures. Due to many potential drug interactions, especially if taking anticoagulants, antiviral drugs, antibiotics, or anticonvulsants, consultation with a physician or pharmacist is absolutely essential. It is advisable to avoid using this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and if necessary, to do so under professional guidance. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so it is important to receive treatment according to symptoms, and the medication should be kept out of reach of children.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reaction/shock, hypomagnesemia, jaundice, hepatitis, hepatic failure, encephalopathy, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), interstitial nephritis, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, severe swelling, severe allergic reactions, severe skin reactions, and more.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. The recommended storage temperature is between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. Proper storage will maintain the medication's effectiveness and safety.
