Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used as an adjunct to effectively control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is administered together with dietary and exercise therapy, and it can be used alone or in combination with other medications to enhance therapeutic effects. This helps improve blood sugar control, aiding in diabetes management.
The recommended dosage for this medication is 5mg once daily. It can be administered regardless of meals.
This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic to the active ingredient or other components. It is also safe not to use in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. There may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia in patients taking insulin or sulfonylurea medications that can induce hypoglycemia, so dosage adjustments may be necessary. Patients with heart failure should use this drug cautiously, and if symptoms of acute pancreatitis arise, treatment should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. Additionally, if symptoms resembling bullous pemphigoid occur on the skin, this medication should be discontinued and a specialist consulted. Hypoglycemic symptoms may occur during treatment with this medication, so symptoms should be closely monitored and appropriate measures should be taken when necessary. Use of this medication is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women, and special caution is advised for pregnant women due to a lack of safety data. This medication is not recommended for children under 10 years old, and even for adolescents over 10, it should be administered cautiously based on a doctor's judgment. Elderly patients can be administered without special dosage adjustments, but patients with impaired renal or hepatic function can also use it without dosage adjustments. In cases of overdose, the unabsorbed medication should be removed from the gastrointestinal tract and symptoms monitored, and appropriate treatment should be administered if necessary. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to other containers as this may compromise quality.
