Precautions

This medication contains sodium hyaluronate and is primarily used after eye surgery. However, it should not be administered to patients who have had allergies to this ingredient or to protein-based medications. Temporary increases in intraocular pressure may occur, and rarely, inflammation, corneal edema, corneal opacity, bleeding, and iris-related issues may arise. Symptoms such as eye pain, itching, and blurred vision may also appear. Care should be taken to closely monitor intraocular pressure after surgery, and appropriate treatment is needed if the pressure rises. It is advisable to wash or aspirate this medication after surgery, if possible. Before performing ultrasonic emulsification and aspiration surgery, the drug must be evenly distributed in the eye through aspiration irrigation. When cleaning surgical tools, solutions containing chemicals that may react with this medication should not be used. Precautions should be taken as this drug is extracted from avian cells, which may pose a risk of immune responses or other hazards. It should not be used in conjunction with hyaluronidase, and must only be utilized according to specified methods and dosages for ophthalmic use. It must never be injected intravascularly. Prior to use, the refrigerated medication should be left at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow it to reach the proper temperature, and any unused portion after opening should be disposed of. When using the drug mixed with air, care must be taken to prevent air from entering beneath the iris, and injection should be done slowly and cautiously. Excessive injection into the anterior chamber may cause an increase in intraocular pressure, so only an appropriate amount should be used. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry, sealed container. Additionally, it is important not to transfer it to another container to maintain its quality.
