This medication is used for the treatment of myocardial ischemia due to hypertension and stable and variant angina. It also helps reduce the risk of hospitalization due to angina and the risks associated with coronary artery revascularization in patients with coronary artery disease confirmed by recent angiography, who do not have heart failure or have an ejection fraction of over 40%. It is effective for alleviating symptoms of cardiovascular diseases and preventing complications.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken with plenty of water. Administer 2.5 mg orally once daily as esamlodipine and may increase up to a maximum of 5 mg daily based on patient response. Adjust dosage appropriately according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. It should not be administered to individuals with allergies to this medication or its components, to pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with cardiogenic shock, severe aortic stenosis, unstable angina, patients who have recently experienced myocardial infarction, those with severe liver dysfunction, very low blood pressure, and patients with lactose metabolism disorders. It should be used with caution in patients with severely impaired renal function, the elderly, those with acute heart failure, hypertensive crises, and patients with mild to moderate liver dysfunction. Side effects such as flushing, fatigue, edema, palpitations, dizziness, headache, indigestion, drowsiness, and ankle swelling may occur during treatment. Rarely, symptoms such as dry mouth, increased sweating, hypotension, vasculitis, insomnia, depression, skin rash, and liver dysfunction have also been reported. If any of these adverse effects occur, consult a physician immediately. Sudden withdrawal of this medication may worsen symptoms; therefore, dosage changes should be made gradually under medical supervision. Caution is needed as the medication may remain in the body longer in patients with liver dysfunction. Take with plenty of water, as dizziness or fatigue may occur due to blood pressure reduction, which necessitates caution while driving or operating hazardous machinery. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive agents or various drugs, so inform your doctor or pharmacist about any concurrent medications and monitor closely. It is safer not to use this medication during pregnancy or for women who may become pregnant and during breastfeeding. In children, it is recommended to use only in those aged 6 years and older, and the elderly should start with a low dose and use it cautiously. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, heart problems, or altered consciousness may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. Keep this medication out of the reach of children and do not transfer it to other containers.
